Over the past few months, I’ve done a lot of reflecting, especially with everything happening in the world. As a Christian author, I feel a stronger call than ever to empower others through creativity. The world needs uplifting stories—ones that remind people of the light that’s always within us, as Jesus once taught.
Writing
Despite the demands of work and other responsibilities, I’m motivated to keep working on my manuscript, Blade of Dragons, a steampunk fantasy now in its fourth draft. At over 100,000 words, it has finally taken shape after years of drafting, experimenting, and feedback from beta readers.
I’m also making progress on Dawn of Dragons, my reader magnet novella, which serves as a prologue to the main story. My goal is to have it finished and edited by the end of the year, just in time to launch my mailing list—the Ethereal Seals’ Book Club! New subscribers will receive the novella as a free gift. Next spring, I plan to hire a content and copyeditor to polish it further as I work on Heart of Dragons, book two in the series.
Lifestyle
The fight with neurological issues is ongoing with me. I’ve researched Medical Medium protocols, which advise against cop-outs like coffee and soda. I’m pleased with my healing progress─for as I heal, my brain and creative soul heals. Less brain fog and depression means better creativity!
For my mornings, I’m doing:
- tinctures of lemon balm, nettles, and ashwagandha
- 32 ounces of lemon water
- 32 ounces of celery juice thirty minutes to an hour later
- Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie thirty minutes later
- A fruit smoothie between breakfast and lunch if I get hungry
This morning cleanse has significantly improved my energy levels, reduced brain fog and depression, and boosted my motivation to write.
Additionally, my gym workouts and yoga sessions have helped enhance my physique. Far too many writers suffer from wrist, hip, shoulder, and neck pain; all which can be improved with lifestytle adjustments. My favorite is the dead hang, which improves posture and fixes shoulder and back issues. The facepull, is another great exercise for rotor cuff issues, and I use the resting squat for my lower body.
Current Events
The news has been troubling, and I’ve found myself in deep prayer every day. Staying grounded through sacred teachings and nature walks has helped, but I’m constantly checking the news for signs of hope, praying that things will improve for the world.
Now, more than ever, the world needs prayer. I find encouragement through a local Christian community group at my church—it’s a comforting reminder that we are never alone, whether as believers, christian authors, or hard-working citizens. Faith in God’s plan is the first step in overcoming the darkness. Just as a hero rises up against an antagonist, we too must rise and embrace God’s light as it fills the earth.
